EVENT REPORT: Carpet Map Introduces Dubai Developer’s Projects
To capture the attention of some 100 members of the press, Dubai-based real estate developer Nakheel put the focus of its media debut on the floor with a graphic carpet that depicted an aerial view of its hometown projects. The six-year-old company hosted a three-hour press meet-and-greet at Espace yesterday to bring market awareness to its international holdings and expansion plans. Attendees could walk along the sites of Nakheel’s massive Palms Trilogy, a set of man-made, palm-tree-shaped islands housing hotels and homes; the World, a mixed-use development situated on 300 islands fashioned after the continents; and the Waterfront, a beachfront city currently on the rise.
EVENT INTELLIGENCE: Building Buzz With Videos: Charmin’s Free Public Bathrooms
This story is part of our series on building event buzz with online videos. A marketing event that got significant buzz in both the real and virtual worlds was Charmin’s 2006 and 2007 holiday promotion, in which the company installed free public bathrooms in new york’s Times Square. Accompanied by singers, dancers, and fun facts about flushing, the quirky event, produced by Charmin along with experiential marketing firm Gigunda Group and public relations firm Manning, Selvage & Lee, brought in 400,000 visitors each year. In a pleasant surprise for Charmin, several dozen of those people were so tickled with the happening that they recorded it with handheld cameras and posted the videos to YouTube—sharing Charmin’s event with thousands more viewers. “The event was all about providing an opportunity for the consumer to engage in the brand in a different and more unusual, innovative way,” says Dewayne Guy, external relations manager at Charmin. “We put a lot of effort into making sure it was interactive, and that lends itself to the visual media. Online video is not something we actively pushed—it happened organically based on the consumer reactions.”

The restoration of the High Line and the surrounding area is in full swing: Today the Whitney Museum of American Art unveiled its designs for a second facility in the meatpacking district. news: new york Not the Best Town for a Film Fest?
In a new york Times article published yesterday, David Carr addresses the pitfalls and advantages of having a film festival in new york. Despite its speedy growth, big premieres, and growing number of distribution deals, the Tribeca Film Festival still pales in comparison to its older siblings at Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, Venice, and Cannes. Carr writes that one reason might be the absence of an isolated festival experience, typical of most destination events: “Anybody who has been trapped on a Sundance shuttle bus will tell you that much of the kinetic energy and serendipity that makes for the festival experience derives from the isolation and absence of distraction. new york City is the headquarters of distractions, making it difficult for Tribeca to grab attention.”

EVENT REPORT: Real-Life Bride and Groom Marry at Made of Honor Premiere
On Monday night, Michelle Golightly and Shaun Bollinger of Carlyle, Pennsylvania, got married in the presence of 30 of their closest friends and family. The ceremony had all the makings of an intimate affair—unless you count the phalanx of paparazzi on hand, spectators watching the proceedings on a JumboTron across the street, and the fact that Entertainment Tonight’s Mary Hart, legally ordained for the occasion, officiated. And that Patrick Dempsey was there to promote his latest film, Made of Honor. As winners of a contest sponsored by The Knot and Sony Pictures (Columbia’s parent company), the now newlyweds gamely provided the central publicity stunt for the premiere of Dempsey’s new romantic comedy, in which the actor adopts the post of maid of honor in an effort to win back the woman he loves. (The public voted at the film’s Web site to determine who would win the prize, which, in addition to nuptials prior to the screening, included a European vacation, a wedding dress, rings, a $10,000 check, and more.)

Earn Extra Income Online - A Blueprint For Success….Price - 29.95
it all started with a single Adwords campaign… Let me take you back to the internet marketing scene last April. Back then a single Adwords campaign was launched, one that would eventually lead 24 “failing” affiliates down the path to financial freedom - and result in me writing this message to you today. Back then, a guide was released called Adwords Miracle. It launched with no hype, just a single Adwords campaign. Fast forward a few months, and word gets out about the product — it goes viral. Many wonder how it happened… That was April. In September, the author decides he has had enough with the “industry B.S.”, and so he decides to take 12 newbies affiliates under his wing and train them in the ways of the super affiliates. Several make as much as $200 per day within a few weeks. October, 3rd, 2006 - he releases a guide explaining how he did it, “Affiliate Project X”. The industry goes mad, and several sales records are broken. And everyone thought that it all ended there. But the truth is that, it was building up to THIS moment. Because last month the author - who simply calls himself “Chris” - asked for applications for another 12 “test subjects” for “new, devious affiliate marketing techniques”. He received over 1,000 applications within days. Then he chose the *next* 12 to test his methods on - and then dissapeared underground. Until this week, when information started surfacing… Apparently the guide would specifically address the problems affiliates have in 2007. AND it would be backed up by PROOF and an assortment of step-by-step methods. That was the IDEA. But what about the *truth* - do you want to know what I really think? Well, the guide has just gone live, and its called “Day job Killer”. I got my hands on a pre-launch copy last week: and when it’s all said and done, …was it worth waiting 9 months for? Let me put it this way: it may possibly be the missing link for 100,000 ClickBank affiliates, and 300,000 Adwords users. Let me explain what I mean by that… Specifically, if you have either lost money on Adwords, or failed to sell products through ClickBank, this guide will explain exactly why. It has worked on the twelve affiliates Chris tested it on, and it CAN do the same for you. If you can’t wait to check it out, click here: http://www.dayjobkillernewsonline.com But I have to give a disclaimer. Success apparently comes at a cost: the guide is NOT pleasant - in fact it’s brutal at times. It includes techniques like: CAMPAIGN NUKING — how to steal the Adwords campaigns from ANY advertiser (even the big players), underbid them and do it in the most brutal way possible. DIRECT LINKING ON CRACK — wow. This is incredible, but Chris has managed to give new life to the “google cash” method of advertising. This is the ultimate solution for lazy affiliates everywhere… possibly the most potent technique in the entire manual, all explained in step-by-step detail. THE LEVELLER — how to “level” a guru, take his customers and use them to build your own laser-targeted list of buyers. And make $100 per day from a $10 ad spend. This one is insane, and its going to annoy a lot of gurus when they learn about it. One more thing: *each* technique includes real profit-pulling examples; all of which have been tested on “average” affiliates by Chris personally. You heard it here first: Day job Killer is going to make thousands of affiliates financially free in the next week, and it has my HIGHEST personal recommendation. It is essentially an assortment of powerful, unknown techniques that have allowed Chris to reach a SEVEN FIGURE income level in a little over a year. Oh - and one more thing, the price you see below is *temporary*. Chris is going to inc
